Off-Grid Cabins and Tents

Choose from four Dassiekrans cabins, Black Eagle Tented Camp with four tents, or Stone Mountain Lodge. Cabins are off-grid with solar lighting, gas burners, and no plug points. Each unit features a private bathroom with a walk-in shower, bed linen, and towels. Some units include a fireplace, private pool, or fully equipped kitchen with microwave. Stone Mountain Lodge has a wood-fired donkey for hot water and an outdoor braai.

Hiking, Cycling, and Wildlife

Ten hiking trails of varying difficulty cross the property, including the hike to Springgat natural rock pool (6 m deep). Cycling routes are signposted. Guests often spot dassies, birds, and small antelope. The outdoor fireplace, picnic area, and BBQ facilities are available. A stone pool at Black Eagle Tented Camp offers a cool dip.

Location and Access

Kleinrivier Mountain Escapes is 40 km from Uitenhage Railway Station and 38 km from Uitenhage Golf Club. The last 23 km are gravel road - drive slowly, some rocky sections. Chief Dawid Stuurman International Airport (Port Elizabeth) is 74 km away. Free private parking is on site.

Services and Practicalities

The property is non-smoking throughout. Staff restock firewood daily and provide hiking tips. Fire extinguishers are installed. Invoice is provided upon request. Guests are expected to clean the cottage, wash dishes, and take out trash before leaving Stone Mountain Lodge.

Self-Catering and Dining

No restaurant on site. Each room has a tea/coffee maker and a kitchen with microwave, gas hob, and fridge. Black Eagle Tented Camp includes a fully appointed kitchen. An honesty box with basic non-perishable foods and drinks is available at Stone Mountain Lodge. Guests can use the BBQ facilities and picnic area.
