KUDU RIDGE GAME LODGE - Addo

Accommodation at Kudu Ridge is in en-suite safari tents or brick-built bush chalets. Rooms are private and set among the indigenous Addo bush. Beds are comfortable, and the rooms are kept clean. The style is simple and rustic, with no luxury extras - guests describe it as an authentic bush experience. Each unit has a private bathroom with hot water (gas-heated) and basic amenities. There is no fridge or kitchenette in the rooms, but common areas provide shared facilities.

Meals are served in the dining room or outdoors around the boma fire. Breakfast is continental: cereals, toast, muffins, fruit, and hard-boiled eggs. Dinner is a traditional South African braai (barbecue) with meat, sides, and dessert. Special diets like gluten-free can be accommodated if requested. The bar is well-stocked with local drinks, and the bush bar on the viewing deck is used for sundowners. The lounge area has a big-screen TV and a fireplace for socializing.

Game drives are the main draw. Guests can book open-vehicle safaris into the private Addo Wildlife Reserve (home to lions, buffalo, giraffe) or into Addo Elephant National Park (elephants, rhino, zebra). The property has one of the longest double zip-lines in South Africa. Other bookable activities include canoeing on the Sundays River, elephant-back safaris, and quad biking. A viewing deck overlooks the reserve and Sundays River Valley, and an open-air fire pit is used for evening gatherings. Free WiFi is available only in the main lodge.

Kudu Ridge Game Lodge sits on a private, malaria-free game reserve 15 km from Addo Elephant National Park. It is a 45-minute drive from Port Elizabeth's airport, beaches, and shopping malls. The nearest major supermarket (Spar) is between the lodge and Addo. The entrance is via a gravel road inside the reserve; check-in instructions are sent by WhatsApp. The reserve itself has frequent sightings of kudu, zebra, impala, and sometimes lions and buffalo near the lodge.

The lodge provides daily housekeeping, laundry, and airport shuttle (drop-off and pick-up). Free parking with accessible spaces is available on site. Security features include key access, safety deposit boxes, and fire extinguishers. The staff (especially manager Dimitri and owners Brian and Jenny) are praised for their friendly and attentive service. They can arrange game drives, guided tours, packed lunches, and special diet meals. Meeting and banquet facilities can be booked for groups. There is a shared lounge with TV and outdoor seating areas with a sun terrace and barbecue facilities.
