WOODBURY TENTED CAMP - AMAKHALA GAME RESERVE - Amakhala Game Reserve

The en suite canvas tents at Woodbury Tented Camp feature a private patio overlooking the valley and the ancient floodplain of the Bushmans River. Each tent includes a built-in shower with hot running water, electricity, air conditioning, electric blankets, and a coffee machine. The tents are cleaned twice daily with turn-down service, and toiletries are provided.

All meals and drinks are included in the rates. Breakfast is served family-style after the morning game drive, and three-course dinners are held at a communal long table in the thatched entertainment area. Guests can enjoy hot chocolate with Amarula by the camp fire after the evening drive. Special diet menus are accommodated, and lunch is also provided.

Two game drives per night are included, led by knowledgeable rangers such as Greg, Jesse, JP, or Lenny. The drives focus on wildlife like lions, cheetahs, elephants, rhinos, and buffalo, with respect for animal space. Between drives, guests can use two outdoor pools with sun loungers, a pool with a view, and pool/beach towels. Board games and an outdoor fireplace are also available.

The camp is located in the heart of the Amakhala Game Reserve, overlooking the Bushmans River floodplain. Grahamstown is 45 km away, and Port Elizabeth Airport is 80 km away. Guests can see wildlife from the dining deck and pools. The reserve is not completely remote, with a highway crossing and farms visible in the distance.

The camp offers airport shuttle service (for a fee), daily housekeeping, laundry, luggage storage, private check-in/check-out, and a shared lounge/TV area. Safety deposit boxes are available, and there is 24-hour security with CCTV. The staff assist with any needs, such as repairing a broken suitcase handle or handling dietary requirements.
