SIBUYA GAME RESERVE AND LODGE - Kenton on Sea

Sibuya Game Reserve offers four accommodation types: Forest Camp, River Camp, Bush Lodge, and Nel's Lodge. Access requires a 40-minute boat ride up the Kariega Estuary. Forest and River Camp feature luxury tents with all-weather roofs, private bathrooms with free-standing baths and showers, and glass doors opening onto wooden decks overlooking the estuary or forest. Bush Lodge has two air-conditioned suites with indoor and outdoor showers, plus a private viewing deck. A standalone three-bedroom cottage includes en-suite bathrooms, a heated pool, and air-conditioning. Nel's Lodge offers two en-suite bedrooms, a third with private bathroom, a split-level deck, open-plan lounge, dining area, and a heated pool with views over the reserve and estuary.

All-inclusive meals feature African-themed cuisine. Each camp and lodge provides its own guides and vehicles. The restaurant serves kid-friendly buffets, special diet menus, and local beverages. Guests can request gluten-free options, with one reviewer noting excellent accommodation. Breakfast includes local staples, though some guests noted inconsistent quality, such as stale cornflakes or overcooked meat. A vegetarian option is available but requires advance notification. Wine and champagne are included. Evening drinks and snacks are provided during game drives.

The reserve offers two outdoor swimming pools with views, shallow ends, and sun loungers. Both are heated (one at Bush Lodge). Activities include canoeing, fishing, game drives, river cruises, birdwatching, guided bush walks (avoiding dangerous game), and swimming in the salt-water estuary. Sibuya is located in Kenton-on-Sea, Eastern Cape. Check-in is at Sibuya Reception in town. The 40-minute boat ride from the reception up the Kariega Estuary is the primary access. Pre-arranged shuttles are available from Port Elizabeth (Gqeberha) Airport (1.5-hour drive) or East London Airport (2.2-hour drive). Free secure parking is provided at the reception. Public transport includes shuttle service to/from the reserve.

All-inclusive packages cover transfers, meals, local beverages, game drives, and river activities. Services include 24-hour security, fire extinguishers, smoke alarms, safety deposit boxes, daily housekeeping, luggage storage, packed lunches, and a shared lounge/TV area.
